What’s New in Philadelphia?

Philadelphia, with huge wins at the James Beard awards, is hot on the restaurant scene. In addition to restaurants, there are many hotels and venues coming to the city. With the ever changing and growing list it can be hard to keep up! We have outlined a few of the new openings that could be perfect for your groups below.

Restaurants:

  • Giuseppe & Sons- Michael Schulson is teaming up with the Termini Brothers Bakery family for a two-in-one Italian restaurant.
  • Attico- Rooftop restaurant ready to debut at the new Cambria hotel on Broad Street.
  • Aether- Chef Scott Anderson and restaurateurs Fia Berisha and Stephen Distler of Mistral in King of Prussia and Princeton and Elements in Princeton head into Philly for the first time.
  • Stir- The Philadelphia Museum of Art’s ongoing renovation includes an upscale restaurant designed by architect Frank Gehry.

Venues:

  • The Met – the former Philadelphia Metropolitan Opera House, is set to open December 2018. Originally built in 1908 by opera impresario Oscar Hammerstein, The Met Philadelphia is currently undergoing a $56 million restoration in partnership with Live Nation, Eric Blumenfeld and Holy Ghost Headquarters to transform the historic theater into the crown jewel of North Broad Street’s renaissance
  • The Lucy- this 17,000-square-foot space will hold up to 325 guests for a seated dinner, and up to 800 for a standing celebration.
  • Kick-Axe- Brooklyn-based Kick Axe Throwing is planning to open up on Market and Bank streets.

Hotels:

  • Pod Philly – will reside two blocks from Rittenhouse square and feature a rooftop greenhouse bar with a retractable roof.
  • W Philadelphia and Element Philadelphia – this 52 story duel- hotel is expected to be completed 2020
  • Four Seasons- the 60 story Comcast building will be the tallest in Philadelphia and feature the Four Seasons lobby on the top floor, opening Summer 2019
